From Run D.M.C.’s “My Adidas” to Nelly’s “Air Force Ones,” athletic footwear has always had a big influence on the hip-hop industry. This influence has been traditionally limited to shoes, but at Custom Sock Shop, we have a hunch that sneakers are on their way out of style for all the rappers who are realizing it’s what’s on the inside that counts: socks.
This morning one of our sock specialists sent an email around the office that contained a link to an amazing new song about everybody’s favorite foot-coverings. This “sock song” is so good that we couldn’t keep it away from our custom sock community. If you’re as much of a fan of cozy toesies as we are, take a quick break and celebrate your sock-love by listening to “Socks With Pills” by Doc Waffles:
We can’t get enough of this song at the Custom Sock Shop HQ! “Socks With Pills” has been on repeat for hours, inspiring a whole new world of custom sock designs. Here are just a few of the unique sock ideas in the song’s lyrics:
- Socks with Ansel Adams landscapes on them
- Socks with a man eating a man-eating shark on them
- Socks with a “Do Not Disturb” sign on them
- Socks with silent-movie bad-guy heels on them
We’ve seen a lot of unusual socks in our time, but we’ve never seen socks that have been so blindingly bright that they require installing drapes on them!
Custom Sock Shop would like to extend a big thank you to artist Doc Waffles for daring to be different by putting aside the tennis shoes and shining some much-needed light on socks. After all, it’s what’s on the inside that counts!
